Resined art pops with color and resined lightbulbs add character to any environment—especially gardens.

I often resin my paintings to wood or canvas instead of framing. The resin gives the artwork added dimension, and I love how the resin makes the colors pop. And finding new ways to use the resin has become a growing addiction. As an artist, I love creating from recycled products, and, after finding boxes of old, unused lightbulbs at an estate sale, I decided to see how they would look resined.

I painted the bulbs with acrylic paints and covered them with my favorite resin from Art Resin. This made the bulbs useful for indoor flower pots, or outdoor gardens. The resin turned the bulbs into durable, unbreakable artworks. Additionally, the clear, epoxy resin strengthened the vibrancy of the colors. I decided these bulbs would look great in flower pots and gardens, and the rest is history.

I now sell a line of hand-painted, resined lightbulbs. And people often ask how I created them, so I decided to create a video explaining my process.

Add resin to your life, and you will be searching garage and estate sales like me to find more “resinable” objects. Plus, upcycled lightbulbs keep us mindful of the importance of recycling.

This video shows you my process for this type of recycled art. If you come up with your own process, make sure to share! Happy resining!
