I used imagery of a woman from history, my mom from the 1960s, to show her presence within my consciousness, as a part of the past and yet simultaneously guiding me today. I envision her finding a renewed purpose in an unbounded realm where her soul sings without constraints. Flowers and organic matter represent renewal. Her figuration represents all women from that era while also giving voice to those living today.
