Irises incite special memories for artist Lynn S. Schwebach. The first house that she and her husband bought had beautiful perennial irises planted, and they arrived each Spring in abundance. She even had to cut the bulbs and separate them, and plant them around the yard. The first pastel art painting Lynn ever painted was an iris. And in her present neighborhood, big purple irises bloom around May, signaling that it's time to put away winter thoughts and enter a new season. Often bittersweet, one thought that always comes back to Lynn is to get out her camera and take pictures because the beauty of these irises will not last—like life itself. The upward reach of this purple iris shows its desire to go forward and beyond, to take flight into a new realm.

The entire, custom-framed artwork measures 26 inches by 33 inches. The inks are thickly applied to create textured purple and pink petals. This signed alcohol ink painting by artist Lynn S. Schwebach is double matted with all archival, acid-free materials. It is double matted with a white 2.5" white mat, and an inner red/maroon mat measuring .25". All mats and boards are acid free. The approximate 1.25" inch black wood frame uses Tru Vue AR Reflection-Free Glass with 78% UV Protection.
